ZEN-SŌ KENJO
臨済宗建長寺派 栖足寺33世住職
1974年東京生まれ。高校卒業後、サックス奏者としてのキャリアを積む。
33歳で仏門への出家を決意し、三島龍澤僧堂にて後藤榮山老大師に参禅。
修行と副住職を経て、2013年に静岡伊豆河津の栖足寺住職に就任。
心の安穏と洞察を追求し、アート表現により仏教（禅）布教に努める。
無心に創り出されるアート作品のシンプルかつ繊細な表現は禅の性質にも通ずる。
静謐で内面的な美の追求によって表われる表象は、観る者に平穏さや心の豊かさを促す。

Artist Profile:
ZEN-SŌ KENJO
33rd Head Priest of Seisoku-ji Temple, Rinzai Zen Sect Kenchō-ji-ha
Born in Tokyo in 1974. After graduating from high school, he pursued a career as a saxophonist. At the age of 33, he decided to enter the Buddhist priesthood and began Zen practice under Goto Eizan Ro Daishi at Mishima Ryuzawa Sodo. After training and serving as an assistant priest, he assumed the position of head priest at Seisoku-ji Temple in Izu, Shizuoka, in 2013. He seeks inner peace and insight and strives to promote Buddhism (Zen) through artistic expression. The simplicity and delicacy of his art, created with a mind free of attachments, align with the nature of Zen. The representation, born through the pursuit of serene and internal beauty, encourages viewers to find peace and richness in their hearts.

円相／Enso
筆と墨で丸を書く、この極めて単純な墨痕を禅の世界では「円相」と呼ぶ。
歴代の禅宗の主に臨済宗の僧侶たちが書いてきたもので、禅の教えのシンボリックなものでもある。
この、一筆に始まりもなく終わりもない 円相は、禅において、悟りや真理、宇宙全体、そして平等性を表現し、見る人の心を映す。そして解釈は見る人に任せられる。
In the world of Zen, this extremely simple ink circle drawn with brush and ink is called Enso.
It has been drawn over generations by Zen monks, particularly from the Rinzai school, and serves as a symbolic expression of Zen teachings.
This Enso, drawn in a single stroke with no beginning and no end, represents enlightenment, truth, the universe as a whole, and equality in Zen. It reflects the state of mind of the person viewing it, and its interpretation is left entirely to the viewer.

禅は宇宙。この立方体に禅宇宙を表現。人工の塗料などは一切使わず、銀箔の硫化のみで全ての色彩を表現している。硫化は分子原子レベルのもので決して人の手では制御できず、まさに自然が作り出す偶然の美。デジタルでは表すことはできない天と地のみぞ知る領域に美しさが宿る。
なぜ銀箔なのか？銀は不安定な物質で変化を起こしやすい。
私たちの心も常に揺れ動き、不安や葛藤を抱える時も多い。
しかし、良くも悪くも諸行無常です。常にこのままと言う事はありえません。銀箔が硫黄という起縁（因）で美しい色（果）に変わるように、私たちの心もちょっとした起縁で不安や葛藤から解放されるのです。また、仏教では四角形をバランスの取れた調和や安定の象徴とします。このZen-Cubeを身近に飾ることで生活や心に彩りが生まれますよう願います。
Zen is the universe. This cube embodies the Zen universe.
No artificial pigments were used — all colors are expressed solely through the natural process of silver leaf sulfuration.
Sulfuration occurs at the molecular and atomic levels, beyond human control, creating a beauty born purely of nature and chance.
This is a realm of beauty that cannot be replicated digitally — it belongs only to heaven and earth.
Why silver leaf?
Because silver is an unstable material, prone to change.
Our hearts, too, are constantly shifting, often filled with uncertainty and inner conflict.
Yet, for better or worse, all things are impermanent. Nothing remains exactly the same forever.
Just as silver leaf transforms into beautiful hues through the catalytic encounter with sulfur (the cause), our hearts too can be freed from anxiety and turmoil through subtle causes and conditions.
In Buddhism, the square symbolizes balanced harmony and stability.
May placing this Zen-Cube in your space bring color, calm, and harmony to your life and heart.
